While using air nibblers and shearers is really a matter of personal preference, there are some pretty clear schools of thought on this subject. Most of the time people look at the air nibblers when they are going to be working on smaller cuts and tighter spots. Whereas for most people they feel that the shearers are better for us in areas where you don’t have to be quite so careful with the cutting.
You will also find that some people argue that air nibblers and shearers are never the right tool to use and that only die grinders should be employed. People that like die grinders are going to say that they think that tool is really the best tool to make the cuts they are trying to make. The main reason it seems that people really like the die grinders is that they can do two things with these tool and that is that they can cut the metal and needed and smooth it out too. Two jobs with just one tool is a matter of convenience for most.
The debate about when and how best to use shearers and nibblers and where it is best to use the tools comes down to personal preference when it is all said and done. The preference of a tool is a personal opinion thing and what one person really feels comfortable using, another person never will like.
In any case, no matter what the tool of choice is a person needs to practice using the tool before they ever use on a real project.

Would a 5 speed random orbital sander made for carpentry purposes work for polishing a car?

I was given some polishing pads by a local auto shop. The pads are a bit bigger than my sander, however, they stick in fine. I have researched this question before without many good results.
Depends on how fast the pad spins. Is it a polisher, or a sander?
If it vibrates, it might work, if it spins, it won't work.
