How do I use butt connectors?
Im hooking up speakers tomorrow in my car i know how to do everything except two things....1. how to use butt connectors (like how do they join a wire its just a red cylindor with a metal cylindor) and 2. where to put my crossovers (ill ask on another question)...btw if this helps i have the Kicker KS6.2
Stripping both ends on the wires you are going to connect by 5/16", placing one wire in butt connector and using the wire strippers, it has a little concave half circle with a smaller nipple usually above the dirrerent wire gauge stripping section that squeezes the butt connector onto the wire. You could also use a pair of pliers, but doesn't do a great job. Give it a good squeeze and a tug on the wire to make sure it is holding. Do the same with second spliced wire into other end of connector. Good luck.
Unless your using big wires, you might want to use the blue butt connectors.
