How to Repair Holes in Wooden Houses as You Prep to Paint

Homeowners would enjoy it if your wooden home stayed in good shape with only minimal home maintenance and repair. Just scrape and caulk some, toss down a drop cloth or two, and slap on a new coat of durable house paint.
Maintaining your house is more difficult. Rather than easy, you usually have to repair the wooden surface of your home.
My roughly twenty-five year old home had to have quite a bit of work. The steel sheeting under my shingles leaked and enabled the water to repeatedly dampen the overhang board. As the years passed, these facing boards shriveled and the paint fell away.
I researched how to get it done right. I was sure that standard compounds to fill wood could fill in the gaps properly.
My buddy next door repaired his wooden home many weekends to control termite infestations. Sam’s repairs held up very well. He knew something I did not.

Bondo was great for car dents. This auto filler did not shrink. This auto filler could be sanded. When he suggested doing this, I instantly knew that it would do the job.
When making repairs, the trick is to do the job in steps with big gobs initially and thinner sections to finish. Bondo allows you to make nice sharp corners, with ordinary kitchen wax paper and wood to shape. To prep for painting by sanding all you need to do is to use one of the discount power sanders to make the Bondo blend smoothly with the wood.
If you have an old wood deck, you could also apply this auto patcher to fix splits in the planks of wood decks of various types. It is sometimes necessary, when you are waterproofing an old redwood deck.
Note the fact that Bondo has a distinctive light reddish color and this will be obvious, when using a transparent water proofing on your wood deck. If you want to waterproof your wood deck repaired with Bondo, you will get the best results with prime and painting.
Also it is not necessary to go to an auto parts store to get Bondo. Just look for Bondo at Lowes or Home Depot. You probably would also like to know that my painting prep job has not shrunk at all over the years.

how do you get paint off a car without removing the original paint?
i accidentally got acrylic paint on my friends car. i was wondering is it possible to get it off with out having to get the car spot painted, and not removing any of the real paint off her car. it is only on a few areas of the car like the top and doors and it is small amounts about the size of a quarter. i would really appreciate your response.

Paint Thinner/Reducer will get it off, it will also take off the finish so you will have to rewax the car, don't rub too hard or it will scratch the paint too.
If you just take it into a good body shop or detail shop they will probably do it for you and charge you next to nothing, we just took off some marks for a lady and didn't charge anything because she was getting an oil change at the same time, it really only takes a minute or two to do it.
Don't use thinner on vinyl though unless it is for just a second, it will melt it away. No matter what anyone tells you, thinner won't take off your original paint unless you sit there and rub the hell out of it. I use thinner all the time to remove marks left from people running into mailboxes/fence posts.
