Fixing Scratches and Water Marks In Your Furniture
How often do you find a stain, mark or scratch on your beloved piece of furniture and panic that you can’t afford to get it fixed. There is no need to worry because the majority of problems do not need an expert to solve and shouldn’t cost you a lot of money. Here are some simple solutions to two of the most common problems.Please note that you should allows use an inconspicuous piece of the furniture to test the methods first
Water Rings
All it takes is someone to carelessly place a cup or glass down on the dining furniture without using a coaster and you’re left with unsightly marks. These are surprisingly easy to remove though if you know what you are doing. Utilizing an iron to heat the stains out works brilliantly. Simply iron over the wood, using a cloth as a barrier between the wood and the metal surface of the iron, and keep going until the stain diminishes.If you find that the stain is still visible, try dripping some lemon or lime juice onto it and leave it over night. When you wake you'll find that the juice has worked away the stain and if there is by some miracle any remaining mark, just iron over again to remove.
Scratches
Scratches occur on furniture all the time when they are used. This doesn’t mean however that you have to live with them when they occur. A variety of techniques can be used to correct the majority of scratches. Cutting a walnut in half and rubbing over the wood with the exposed inner body of the nut will get rid of light scratches.If the scratch is still not vanishing completely, spray on some high quality furniture polish and rub that in well. For slightly deeper cuts or abrasions use some denatured alcohol mixed in with a drop of lacquer thinner. By using a very fine paintbrush you can blend in the surrounding lacquer and carefully cover the damaged area.
If your paint finished nice white furniture receives any damage such as a piece of white bedroom furniture then do not use the techniques above. You are much better off painting over the affected part and rubbing it back down so it looks the same as the rest of the wood

Is soda blasting a good way to strip remove the paint on a 1969 Chevy Corvette?
I have a 1969 chevrolet corvette and we are in the process of restoring it. I have been researching different ways to remove the paint that is currently on the fiber glass body. Is soda blasting a good method? If you have any experience with soda blasting, what are the down sides to it? If it is a good method of paint removal, about how much would it cost to get the body soda blasted (everything except the front clip)?
Soda blast is a good way because it will not dig into the fiberglass. The only other way is to sand it all down by hand. Not sure of any down sides, never used it before. It will be harder to find someone that does soda blasting, its still kind new. Most places do sandblasting for around $60 to $90 an hour. So it could be expensive.
