Some interesting facts about Switch Off Sanity

Finding The Best Menopause Treatment For Your Symptoms

Menopause is a difficult experience for any woman. Irritating is one description of the symptoms. The results of some treatments can be slow to show or non existent at all. The amount of unsolicited advice you have received thus far is probably beginning to irritate you. You pray for the day when you go deaf so you won't have to hear everyone's advice. Lack of emotional control is to be expected when experiencing menopausal symptoms. Fortunately, for those around you there are many treatment options available.

If one of the treatments fails for you there are always others to try. Hopefully, the following information will bring to light an option you haven't tried yet.

Try loading up on phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens come directly from nutrious foods. Lignans are one of the types of phytoestrogen available in the food we eat. You can find lignans in foods that contain flaxseed, whole grains and they are also in many fruits and vegetables.

Isoflavones are found in soy beans, legumes and chickpeas. Most women will forgo hormone replacement therapy by using these foods rich in phytoestrogens. Tests have shown some promise as far as phytoestrogens are concerned but there is no solid proof that they can completely replace hormones. Treatment results vary greatly depending on the person. Some women report feeling a decrease in their symptoms. Others have been known to respond better to hormone replacement therapy.

Another effective treatment for menopause symptoms, believe it or not, is yoga. Studies have proven that regular yoga helps release the amount of hot flashes a woman experiences. They also show that the hot flashes that do occur are not as intense as those suffered by women who do not do yoga. Lots of health professionals believe that the controlled breathing and the relaxation techniques of yoga raise a woman's spirits as well as helping her physical body which is one of the biggest reasons that women say yoga helps them deal with menopause.

See your doctor often. Once a year is not usually enough for women who are going through menopause. You should see your doctor at least every few months. This will help keep your doctor apprised of your symptoms and whether or not the various menopause treatments you try are working. This also allows your doctor to keep tabs on any medications you may be taking to treat your menopause pharmaceutically. It is also easier to catch and treat conditions in their early stages if you get regular screeners like lipid level tests and pap smears. This could help you out tremendously if you start to show signs of developing aging issues like osteoporosis or other diseases.

Treating menopause is not a universal activity. There is no one treatment that will work on every woman. Lost of women find that the best menopause treatment is to combine each of the major treatment categories: medicinal, herbal and lifestyle treatments. Others choose to only use one kind of treatment. Still others try to pretend that the menopause is not happening at all. You will know what is right for you. Do make sure that you take a moment to talk to your doctor about all of the different menopause treatments that you want to try. Don't try anything new without your doctor's okay. You could end up doing bad and not good.

Questions on Switch Off Sanity

This may sound like a crazy question, but do you ever question your own sanity?

and for no good reason?

Sometimes (probably when i am already anxious to begin with) i find myself questioning my own sanity. This, in turn, distresses me, and makes my anxiety rise further. I know it sounds ridiculous, but i find it hard to switch off from this thinking. It's like i always expect something to be wrong, that i am missing something, if that makes any sense?
I worry that i will go so far into myself, that i won't be able to find my way back (lose all touch with reality.) Could this be a form of de-realisation? Does anyone else do this?
Perhaps i should add that i have suffered with social phobia since childhood (i am now in my thirties),and had clinical depression in the past. Also, i over-think and over-analyse everything, it is a bad habit.

I think the fact that you are still able to question your own sanity means that you are not insane. People who are insane do not know it.
