Questions on Rod Piston Pin
Floating wrist pins vs pressed in wrist pins?
My current piston rod combo is a floating wrist pin but my new pistons are press in wrist pin... Are the two interchangable?
It's perfectly OK to switch over to a press-in type piston and wrist pin but an engine re-building shop may have to re-size the small end of the connecting rods for the new (unknown sized) wrist pins.
If you plan on mixing and matching parts between the press-in piston and the floating set-up they are not inner-changeable. The new pistons have no snap ring or clip groove to retain the floating wrist-pin. If you measure the new press-in wrist pins and wrist pin holes in the pistons the sizes won't quite match up by a couple of tenths of a thousandths.
