I have some auto spraying questions?
I have started painting cars not too long ago. Overall the paint jobs are coming out nice, but I have a couple questions on some problems I have come across. After painting a hood it looked like my paint was striped. What could cause this? Also I am using a sata jet 90 what is the best pressure for base coat? Clear coat? I spray in a car port and what is the best way to avoid dirt spots? I will be getting a spray booth eventually but for now I need some advice til I do. Thanks
Stripes?..... easy ----- Hold the gun up high off the hood and spray it on thick..... When another car painter explained this to me I though he was nuts -- So I let him show me.... He held the gun above the hood about 2 feet and moved back and forth slow.... I watched and complained that the paint would be dry before it hit the hood -- He said shut up and watch.... So I watched and after a few moments of this i saw the paint "melt" for a lack of better word and get glossy...... It didn't run either..... Its like he put a slow long shooting heavy fog on the hood....
I was surprised -- It actually worked......
