What You Need To Know Before Purchasing An Air Compressor
An air compressor is a machine that converts electrical energy or gas into kinetic energy by pressurizing and compressing air, which is then released in sudden ruptures. There are certain methods of air compression, which is separated into either positive-displacement or negative-displacement categories.
There's a unique distinction between positive-displacement and negative-displacement air compressors. A Positive-displacement air compressor works by pushing air into a compartment whose volume is reduced to effect the compression. There are 2 main types of air compressor's pumps: oil-lubed and oil-less. The oil-less system has more technical development, but are higher priced, louder and last for a shorter period compared to oiled lube pumps. However, the air delivered has better quality.
An air compressor is much more commonly used for generation and accumulation of air power, transportation of bulk products, transportation of gas through pipelines, compression of air to produce oxygen, in refrigeration units and in paint shops and workshops.
The life of an air compressor depends almost entirely on the effectiveness of lubrication and that is why it is important to select the right quality of lubricants for your machine. The lubricants to compressors act as blood to a human being. High quality industrial oil must be used for lubrication of air compressors as research has revealed that using a substandard quality oil may damage the machine as the more particles the oil contains, the greater the risk of the machine breaking. Normally, a good quality, non-detergent, mineral oil should be used. The sludge and other impurities within the oil will cause the oil strainer to clog up, leading to lubrication starvation.
I know, it is a lot to take in all at once, but knowing what air compressors are before choosing to purchase one is important. It's also important to know what extends the durability of these machines and what shortens it; you need to know how to take proper care of this machine to make it last as long as possible, because they do not come cheap.

Im looking for a small proffesional air compressor for spay painting?
I dont have a clue what i should look for. I need it to be as small as possible, it only needs to feed one spray gun. I intend to use it in building construction for water based spray painting.
I dont want a top of the range air compressor, it only needs to be good at what i need it for at a proffesional standard.
Any help with some specifications/brands/models? thanks
