Some noteworthy info about Single Handed Operation
Simple Solutions For Garage Door Problems
There's nothing scary or dangerous about automatic garage doors, unless tampering is evident. Less and less are professionals being called in to fix minor home problems, as homeowners choose to save money by doing things themselves? However, one should be careful when handling a garage door, the largest, heaviest piece of home machinery. For more information on garage doors check out garage door repair.
Numerous mishaps have been borne of messing with springs, children getting a hold of remote control devices, and aging garage doors. There are two overarching rules when handling garage doors. Do not change the springs in any way, and do not put on ice any repairs.
Doors involve two kinds of springs. The type of spring that expands when closing the door as a sort of bumper and reduces size to counter mass of the door when opening is called an extension spring. Coiled springs that hold up the mass of the door are called torsion springs.
It is risky to tamper with either type. It is chancy to attempt to install torsion springs, especially when one does not have prior experience with the special tool needed to mount them. Using a substitute tool to increase tension on the spring can result in tragedy. For more information on garage doors check out roller doors.
An adjustment to the spring brackets on the garage frame can also be risky, because they are under tension, which is something few homeowners remember. The number two rule states that damages should be repaired without delay. It is strongly suggested that a professional undertake any repairs, instead of you doing them yourself.
An improperly hung door can be dangerous to you, your family and your car, and can become very expensive to repair. Check for adequate installation by measuring the period between the impact of the door and the corresponding bounce back from impact. Two seconds is all it should take for the door to reverse its course.
If it takes longer than that, check for common problems, such as worn tracks and broken springs. Wheels should not stick, and tracks should not be bent or loose. Wheels that get stuck are improved with a little grease on the bearings.
Adequate lubrication is required for rollers, springs, hardware pivot points, and openers. While a regular paint job protects the door, it does nothing and may even hurt the hardware's performance. Paint simply gets in the way of hardware, whose job it is to change the door's position.
Children should not be able to retrieve triggering devices for automatic door openers. The same applies to garage buttons. A long, safe life awaits you and your door if you follow the suggested.
Questions on Single Handed Operation
What happens to a balun transformer's response at -40C?
We use small balun transformer's to convert single ended signals to differential balanced signals, where the signal level is on the order of 1mW, and frequency band of interest is 100 MHz to 200MHz. Typically, these are datasheet rated for operation from -30C to +85C. Does anyone know what happens to the balun's response (insertion loss, amplitude and phase balance) at extreme cold temperatures? Please answer only if you have 1st hand experience, or if you can guestimate the response based on known physical properties of materials at -40C. This is something only an expert in electronics or physics might know
A balun is simply an impedance matching transformer, exceeding it's temperature rating by -10 degrees will not have a measurable effect on it's electrical characteristics. Unless you are specifying a very expensive high precision device the normal varations found in any production run will be much greater. If anything you need to be careful of the mechanical properties, at -40 normal plastics can be awfully brittle and temperature swings can give you problems with electrical connections. Provide good support and strain relief, make sure your connections are secure but not over tightened and you shouldn't have any trouble.
