Some useful facts about Impact Deep Sockets
UN55D8000 - Brings Best-In-Class Views And Features
Along with dual HIGH DEFINITION tuners, Samsung's brand new SmartTV hub, the touch-screen remote control, and totally re-designed three dimensional eyeglasses head the list of souped-up functions. However it is the spectacular brand new style which should turn heads.
The new model is eye-catching. Samsung has shaved down the surrounding bezel (the bit that frames the screen) from 28mm on last year's C8000 model to just 5mm on the UN55D8000, giving the display a distinctive, clean-edged feel. According to Samsung it’s not all about aesthetics, though; the inconspicuous bezel could also enhance the 3D viewing experience.
A fanciful claim? Possibly not. One of the complaints of our expert-viewing panel last year was the diminishing effect of the picture-frame while watching in 3D. Glimpse at the frame and it was all too easy to loose sight of the 3D effect, with virtually no frame there’s a chance this issue might be eliminated.
UN55D8000 specification
First-up let’s obtain the fundamentals out of the way. It delivers in two HD tuners, with Samsung is adding Freesat HD alongside Freeview HD (was Panasonic TVs selling point). But just like Panasonic dual-tuner TVs, the functionality is perhaps not as excellent as you’d expect. The two tuners cannot be used independently, so you can’t record one HD channel on Freesat and watch another on Freeview.
Of course it’s Full HD and Samsung has retained the strong selection of sockets from last year, including two Scart inputs for anyone with more than one bit of older kit. Other new features include built-in Wi-Fi (so no need for a pricey wireless dongle) and a new on-screen instruction manual. The so called ‘e-manual’ looked logically laid out and well-indexed, but lacked a searchable index.
Samsung LED picture
Display quality was the truf card in the C8000 deck (last year's equivalent model), which gives us hope that Samsung can repeat the trick this year. It’s promising to improve on the C8000’s superb contrast, deep blacks and virtually non-existent picture-noise with a series of picture engine tweaks.
New motion processing software is promised, too. Samsung has slapped on an 800Hz label, but predictably the software at work here doesn’t actually refer to the usual frames-per second criteria, so isn’t directly comparable to more familiar 100Hz and 200Hz logos. Marketing hype aside we hold high hopes for picture quality, but will reserve judgement until we get it into our comparative lab test.
Smart TV hub
Alongside 3D TV, internet connectivity will be a big theme for 2011 ranges, with Samsung UN55D8000 at the fore. Samsung’s internet TVs were already ahead of the competition, but it has taken another leap forward with its new Smart TV system. Building on the success of 2010, it’s integrated an expanded app store, with full web browsing, an impressive content search option, movie recommendation facility and your home network files into one slick interface.
Possibly the most remarkable characteristic could be the all-in-one search ability. A ‘search’ package may be activated any time, seeking around programs, sites and also daily activities together with final results sent in accordance with articles location.
A movie search facility delivers recommendations based on your search behaviour and aggregates search results from across multiple movie apps, detailing options on price and movie quality. So for example, the same movie might be available on LoveFilm and AceTrax (both Samsung apps), but at different prices.
Twitter and Facebook can be enjoyed together with TV or movies, allowing you to send and receive posts to friends. It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but Samsung clearly has an eye on encouraging use for event TV like football matches, or popular TV shows.
New Samsung 3D glasses
The makeover is not only on panel, but touching the 3D glasses design as well. The result is nothing short of a stunning transformation. Gone are 2010’s awkward and uncomfortable active shutters (though Samsung’s were perhaps the best of a bad bunch last year), replaced by a pair of flexible, lightweight and comfortable specs
The electronics have been moved to the rear of the glasses, allowing the weight to be redistributed around the head instead of sitting uncomfortably on the nose. Charging is done via a mini-USB connection with this TV, or alternatively using an optional wireless docking cradle that can charge four pairs of glasses and the remote.
However, the new design isn’t going to delight anyone who picked up a first-generation Samsung 3D TV. The new glasses will not work with its older 3D TVs. They connect to the TV via Bluetooth, a sturdier system less prone to interference than the infra-red standard used last year, but also only compatible with the new 2011 TVs. Samsung, at least, say they will still produce glasses for its older TVs.
Questions on Impact Deep Sockets
My dry socket dressing...any advice please?
So i went for a follow up yesturday because i had my 2 impacted wisdom teeth removed, ive been experiencing more throbing then usual and ear pain on one side, the doctor said it was only a minor dry socket because the whole was closing but there was still a part exposed that shouldnt have been.
He packed it with a little bit of the medication, and he said i would not have to return to remove it becayse he didnt put it too deep, it should fall out within an hour of it being there.
Its the next day today and i think i can kind of see it still there, i never seen it or felt it come out, and i can still taste it. My dentist left yesturday night for a dental conference so hes not in the city. Im affraid it might heal over the dressing as the hole is getting alot smaller. Is it an issue if the hole closes around it? Will it dissolve or should i be concerened
If you call your dentists office the dental assistant should be able to tell you if you need to make sure it is out or not? A lot of times when a dentist is out of town or not in the office and you call the office you will either get the answering service or, one of the people that work for the dentist. If you have your dentist called through the service he will call you back and you could ask him but, before you do you should make sure that it isn't in there ar all. You can take a small mirror and look at it while using a big mirror to help you . You can also use a salt water rinse as long as it has been more than 24 hours since you had the tooth extracted. If it has been more than 24 hrs. then put some warm water into a glass and add a few teaspoons of salt and rinse and swoosh it around in your mouth concentrating on the socket and see if you notice the cotton come out. I hope that it works for you since I would think it wouldn't be a good thing for the socket to close up with a foreign object in th socket.
