manometer/carb sync questions?
I want to build a carb sync manometer to check the carbs on my Kawasaki ZRX 1100. I just got finished cleaning them. I thought about using some Magnahelic vacuum gauges. What kind of vacuum should they be pulling?
Another idea I had was using my Fluke DVM with IR thermal temp sensor. Aim it at header exhaust, and monitor temp difference between cylinders.
When you set the carbs there is a specific vacuum that each engine should pull. If it does not pull the minum vacuum then something else is wrong, such as timing, vavle clearance etc.... But, If you have an electronic, digital, timing then that can only be changed with a new chip and won't ever get off. They either work or they don't. And, if you have checked the vavle clearance and you know they are within spec then you set the carburator to pull the maximum vacuum possible. You may find that one or more cylinders won't pull as much vacuum as the others. Then you adjust the fuel/air mixture to draw less vacuum till they are all the same. Using a heat sensor is not accurate. But, can tell you if one cylinder or more is running too lean.
Thank you for shopping our shop. Hopefully you have found the Carb Sync Gauge you were looking for.
