Questions on Bead Blaster Blasting

Police advice please - is this legal?

Hi, I have a 1948 classic car that's taxed, insured and MOTd and fully roadworthy. I plan on having the bodyshell bead blasted by a company just 2 miles away. My question is: Am I committing a crime/or road traffic offence if I drive the car to the blasters with no doors, windows or boot? The car will be totally stripped inside too with just the drivers seat fixed back in for the trip. I thought about wearing my crash helmet and leathers as it would be the equivalent to driving a motorbike! Your comments please, I have asked our local police but they were unsure (not traffic) Cheers

You will need to have the reg plates on, the tax disc displayed properly to the nearside front and have the wheels still covered in by bodywork (sounds like it will be like that). The windows or the boot are not necessary so long as their emission does not leave any pedestrian unfriendly sharp edges.
The helmet would seem a good idea and maybe some gloves but I think the leathers might be a bit over the top.
If it has an ordinary MOT it does have to have fully working lights as tested. A daytime only MOT would be possible but if you do not have one the lack of lights is an offence in the same way that it is an offence to drive around with a blown headlight bulb, regardless of the other answer on here - I am sure your insurance would be invalidated by this
There would also be the technical offence of the car not being as per its log book (V5C) in that for instance the seating capacity will have changed from 4 or 5 to one and it will not be a saloon car at the time you are moving it. (I think you would get away with that one)
